We’d been shaping this fragrance for months when, one hot summer afternoon, we wandered into a hidden church somewhere in Milan. In that hush, looking at the words ADORET TE (ah-DOH-ret teh), above an interior brass gate, it felt as if our perfume finally introduced itself. The words landed with a quiet certainty, as though the scent had been waiting for them all along. Its breath of life.
What we didn’t know was that the phrase came from a private prayer ““, written by St. Thomas Aquinas nearly eight centuries ago. Learning that later made the moment feel even more predestined. A small piece of history brushing against our randomly-decided path that day.
