The second installation in the conceptual olfactory triptych that started with ON LAND, FROM LAND began with the ground itself. The sense that something had been waiting there long before we arrived, quiet and complete, asking only to be noticed. FROM LAND grew out of that feeling. Not a landscape you look at, but one you step into.
It moves like sunlight on ancient trees wrapped in moss, bright but restrained, carrying a faint trace of ritual in the air. Then something darker begins to surface. The feeling of worn things. Wood, earth, and time pressing into one another. At the center is a rare resinous wood that forms slowly inside an old Southeast Asian tree. For centuries people sought it out for the depth it carries: smooth and quietly powerful.
Resin, shadow, and a steady warmth are a quiet reminder that everything begins somewhere. Solid, somewhere ancient, somewhere you’ve been before.
